Important Information regarding changes to customer electrical installations which may require access to NIE Networks sealed equipment.
Our equipment is sealed to keep ALL customers safe from live electricity as required under legislation including the Electricity Safety, Quality and Continuity Regulations (Northern Ireland) 2012 Regulations and must only be accessed by NIE Networks’ authorised staff.
As safety is our priority, it is essential that we are notified PRIOR to any changes you make to your supply arrangements for example if you replace or add a fuse board, trip switch, install an electric vehicle charge point or a micro generation scheme, as these may require changes to your connection configuration to safely accommodate them.
To install the above items safely usually requires access to NIE Networks sealed equipment and you must therefore contact us before undertaking any work that may require isolation of an electricity supply involving the breaking of NIE Networks seals.
Under no circumstances may NIE Networks seals be broken or fuses removed as this activity is both dangerous and is an offence under The Electricity (Northern Ireland) Order 1992.
