Meet Laura - Trainee Linesperson
‘Like most young people, I hadn’t fully decided what I wanted to do. I was in my final year of university when I decided I wanted a more hands on experience, I began to research apprenticeships.’
‘I knew I had an interest in the electrical industry and I love the outdoors, so when a NIE Networks apprenticeship recruitment poster was brought to my attention by a family member, I did some further research and I knew this was what I had been looking for. What also attracted me was the clear opportunity to earn while I learn whilst getting the hands-on experience.’
‘My role entails working as part of a team on the HV and LV network providing new connections, fault finding and maintaining the network. ‘
‘I enjoy that no two days are the same; working in various locations across the Northern Ireland, from areas of outstanding beauty to towns and cities. Some areas of our work can be challenging, but through determination, training and support from my mentors and team I have been able to achieve more than I had ever imagined possible.’
‘This is a unique and fantastic opportunity to challenge yourself in an ever-evolving environment. There’s a clear variety of learning within our apprenticeship - there’s never a dull day!
