The future of your electricity network (2017-2024)
When developing our 2017 to 2024 plans for the electricity network, we listened to what our customers were telling us about our current service level and what they would like us to deliver in the future. All of this information is available to download from this page.
As NIE Networks is a monopoly, we agree our network investment plans with the Utility Regulator and other industry partners.
As this investment is paid for by Northern Ireland’s current and future electricity customers, it is important to strike the balance between service levels and cost.

Our Proposals
The current network investment plan runs to March 2024 and we are developing our plan for the next period which will run until 2031 (known as RP7).
The plan will determine what we have to deliver for you, what we are allowed to charge you for the services we provide and what mechanisms we should use to invest, improve performance and become more efficient. As such, it is important that you have your say in our plans.
We recognise that the world around us is changing quickly and customer priorities are adjusting with that. To better understand customer priorities, we have engaged extensively with our diverse stakeholder community and sought their input to our plan at each stage of its development. We are now finalising the plan and will launch a 6 week public consultation on it from 13th September.
