Planned Emergency Power Cuts
In the event that there is a shortfall in electricity generation in Northern Ireland, SONI may instruct NIE Networks to undertake Planned Emergency Power Cuts – previously referred to as load shedding – in order to protect the integrity of the electricity grid.
Using our well established and tested plans, we will then disconnect blocks of customers for periods of up to 3 hours according to predefined lists. In the event of this procedure having to be used the Planned Emergency Power Cut rota will be published here:
