The Distribution Code is designed to permit the development, maintenance and operation of an efficient, co-ordinated and economical distribution system and generally to facilitate competition in the generation and supply of electricity.

This code establishes the rules governing the operation, maintenance and development of the distribution system and sets out the procedures for governing the actions of all distribution system users.
In accordance with the code NIE Networks has established and maintains a Distribution Code Review Panel that reviews and makes amendments to the code as necessary.

This version of the code includes amendments to incorporate the European Network Code Requirements for Generators which must be complied with from 27 April 2019.

PPM Setting Schedule
The Power Park Module Setting Schedule sets out certain technical criteria that Generators must comply with in respect of Types C and D Power Park Modules, the Power Park Module Setting Schedule is deemed to form part of the Grid Code and Distribution Code.

Distribution System Security and Planning Standards
NIE Networks is required to publish the Distribution System Security and Planning Standards, and/or such other standard of planning and operation of the Distribution System as is adopted with the Utility Regulator’s approval.
